Living Library is a project that its books are people who are either prejudiced against or discriminated, the readers are people who have those prejudices, and the readers borrow the book from its shelf, and puts back after the read. The purpose is demonstrating the peace of society. Firstly, it is organized in Roskilde music festival, in Denmark by a NGO (nongovernmental organization) that is called "Stop Voilence!", and the idea spreaded around all the Europe. Ever since, many Living Libraries are held in many countries such as Norway, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovenia, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark and even Australia, and still many are in the process. The event took place in university festivals, youth organizations, music festivals, special occasions since the first time it is made.
We, being AEGEE Istanbul volunteers, started our process of a Living Library of our own in Living Library Trainings in December 2010, and it is going to happen in May 2011. We are in the preparations process, and tapping our steps for a marvellous Living Library!
